It's all about the accessories

This morning, before school:

Yes those are blue suede boots with multi-colored tights. They look particularly smashing with the floral dress, which is just visible.

And the girl was VERY happy during the walk to school.

Updated to add:
Since a couple of people have expressed interest in getting similar boots in an adult size, I found these at LL Bean. Lands End used to have them, but not currently.

I think she looks fab - it's not like she's wearing white after Labor Day or anything?

She is going to look back at these pictures and wonder "what on earth was I thinking???"

I do that now...I was such a perfectionist about my hair, and looking back at pictures now I think I was insane to even think my hair looked decent...let along spend so much time on it to make it "perfect" when it ended up being the farthest thing from perfect!

Guider: No! No white after Labor Day.

HWM: Yeah, I suspect that when El goes through her Goth or punk phase, she's going to be embarassed at all the pink and purple she wore in her youth.

And why shouldn't she be happy? What girl doesn't need blue suede boots!!?

Erin: I know! These particular boots came from Lands End last year and were Grace's, who swore they were as comfortable as sneakers. I've tought about getting some for myself in a fun color, such as red. As soon as Grace realized that the boots no longer fit her this fall, Ellie swooped in and grabbed them as her own. She is not proud and will still happily wear hand-me-downs.

Very snazzy! And Rachel can't wait for Leah's hand-me-downs, often trying to appropriate them before Leah's actually outgrown them.

Ah, yes, self expression... she looks darling! After all, she's only moments away from wanting to wear all black!

She reminds me of my youngest--she adored fluorescent colors and wild patterns... and her suede boots were always royal purple.

Ha, I love it! I kinda wish I could wear stuff like that now, except I'm pretty sure people would just think I'm insane.

Is she sharply dressed and also standing on a trampoline? That girl has everything going for her!

Heidi :)

Heidi: Good catch! Yes, she is standing on her trampoline. It's in front of her easel -- she draws a bit, jumps a bit, draws a bit more, jumps a bit more. I'm going to have to put up a video to fully illustrate this. The only problem is that the more the girl jumps, the hotter she gets, so she ends up shedding her clothes until she's down to just her skivvies. So unless I catch her early on, I'm not going to videotape my nearly naked child and then post it on the internet.

How could you not have a little spring in your step wearing these babies...the tights really push the whole fashion statement over the top. Sweet.

Well now, very creative. Almost punk style in a groovy, girly kind of way. I may have worn something along those lines about 25 years ago.

That gal is going to be a rebel I think. Don't be fooled by the pink.
