Unlike Elegant, I am not a fashionista

I am visiting a private school tomorrow. The one we're thinking of transferring Elegant to. Given that I will be meeting with the Head of School, as well as other adults, should I assume that dressing nicely is the way to go? As if I were going to a work meeting. That level of nice? It's not too much, is it? It will be chilly tomorrow, so I'm thinking of either top-to-bottom black with a great colorful cashmere wrap OR cashmere sweater and nice pants.

I've never actually interviewed at a private school before.

Either would be good. A clown suit probably wouldn't be.

Yes something smart but not OTT would be perfect.
I remember my interview for my school, and Mum started going on about how I loved to read. The headmistress asked me if we had some interesting literary discussions at the dinner table. Mum said Oh no, we're too busy telling her how to hold her knife and fork properly.

If the school is Peabody, don't bother getting too dressed up. That's a GOOD thing, by the way!

My children go to a private school, and if I were to dress up that much the head of school would wonder what fancy function I'd be attending later. But, well, it's all about how comfortable you are in what you are wearing.

We've done the private school route...either of those outfits will be fine.
Just remember to breathe.

Umm. I have three kids in very good private school. The other Moms and I are in our PJ's when we are there in the morning. Usually we are drinking coffee, our hair is not combed and we have no make-up on.

Don't fuss too much or we will hate you before we even know you. :)

Do they interview you? Or is it the other way around? I am sure whatever you choose will be acceptable - just don't pop on a tiara as you leave home, that may not go down well.

Whatever you decide to wear, just remember, we all put our pants on one leg at a time.

I think it's better to make a good first impression - after all, it's not like Elegant already goes to the school and you're just stopping by to pick her up or drop her off for the day. And you can always go dressed nicely in one of the outfits you mentioned, and then if at some point you feel over dressed, just casually mention how you're on your way to a work meeting after the interview. Is your husband going too or is it just you?
