I think it's safe to say that Elegant has had a great birthday.
She wore a special dress to school:
I don't know if you can see her necklace or not, but Lori made it (click on the photo above to enlarge). Lori has a line of necklaces called "Treasures" and each is one-of-a-kind. I asked Lori to make a "Treasures Jr." for Elegant in her favorite colors -- three little beaded charms in pinks and purples and then two silver charms. To say that Elegant was thrilled is an understatement.
At lunch time, Pete and I went to eat with Ellie and share treats with her class.
If you look carefully, you can see the remains of homemade chocolate chip cookies on Elegant's mouth.
Pete worked from home today, so Elegant was able to open the rest of her presents as soon as she got home. She received books, toys, art supplies, etc. Best of all was a jogging trampoline from us:
Yes, the light is bad and the photos are blurry, but you can still get a sense of the joy and movement in the photos.
This might seem like a crazy thing to get the girl, but she's thrilled + we think it will help her with her daily jumping rituals. The trampoline is in the living room for today but will move to the toy room in the basement tonight. Mid-century modern and trampolines really don't go well together.
Dinner was "ordered" pizzas -- not something we do very often, so it was a special treat. We called Papa John's and, when the delivery guy arrived, Elegant looked at him with great awe and reverence and asked, "Is THAT Papa John?"
Tonight I'll clean up the wrapping paper and "recalibrate" everything for tomorrow -- Pete's birthday.
